Arens Residence Browns Point - Tacoma, WA
Bill and Mary Ann Arens found an old cabin that
had a great western view of Tacoma, Point Defiance and the Narrows Bridge. Container ships, as tall as ten stories,
sail by regularly adding to the already interesting views. The problem was the cabin was barely meeting their small
family's needs and was in need of major repairs.
Our concept is based on their interest
in prairie style homes from the mid-west, melded with a distinctly northwest style. The exterior has a horizontal
base of wood siding and a strong band of stucco and casements windows along the second floor.
The master bedroom and dining room have
been pulled out to create a tower effect.
The main living room opens out to an
expansive deck with a central grand stair that takes you down to the front lawn. Planters frame the steps in a
prairie style manner.
