A House in the Field
Gig Harbor, WA
Our clients found a semi-wooded five
acre parcel in Gig Harbor for their new home. They wanted plenty of light and a comfortable, inviting place to
entertain family and friends. A wraparound porch adds a farmhouse feel and provides protection from the weather.
A breezeway provides covered access to the garage. Above is a large vaulted rec. room and a guest suite. Fir floors
imported from Canada add warmth and an interesting variation of grains and color. The master suite includes a small
"away room" for the parents with its own fireplace and custom wood paneling. An open plan for the living
room, kitchen and dining room and details such as ample window seats create a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
The upstairs children's rooms are
whimsically shaped and decorated; oak ladders lead to small lofts for play or sleepovers. Small decks overlook
the soccer field, a centerpiece of the landscaping. A balcony overlooking the main living space includes a study
area for the kids. Unique ceiling shapes and exposed structure add visual interest.
