Yamaguchi Residence

Gordy & Lynn Yamaguchi found a great lot along the Redondo waterfront on which to build their new home. The lot is across the street from the waterfront boardwalk and has an unobstructed view of Puget Sound and Vashon Island. Two existing houses flanked the lot on each side and substantial shoring was required to accommodate the new house.

The floor plan is specifically designed to accommodate Lynn & Gordy's varying sensibilities, one preferring a more open plan, the other a more traditional separation between rooms. The main floor rooms are laid out as smaller, cozy spaces and the upper floor as a more open plan with vaulted ceilings.

Both levels have their own decks allowing overviews of the boardwalk and the beach. The lower level basement is a 30'x50' garage without columns to allow easy maneuvering and flexibility of use. The entry takes advantage of the site slope to allow entry into the main floor from the upper street level.
